UK · Employment

UK employers must begin logging overtime hours under new draft rules

The Department for Business and Trade has published draft regulations requiring employers to maintain records of all overtime worked, including informal arrangements. The rules apply to businesses of any size. A consultation period is open until June 2026, with implementation expected Q4 2026.

What to do: No action required yet. If your business uses informal overtime arrangements, start documenting them now so you're not scrambling at implementation date. We'll update you when final rules are published.
EU · Data Protection

New GDPR guidance tightens rules on email marketing consent

The EDPB (EU data protection board) has issued updated guidance clarifying that pre-ticked consent boxes for marketing emails are invalid across all EU member states. This affects any business with EU customers, regardless of where the business is based.

What to do: Check your signup forms. Any pre-checked marketing consent box must be unchecked by default. If you're unsure whether your forms comply, your email platform's settings page is the right place to start.
Ireland · Company Law

CRO extends the deadline for annual return filing to 30 September

Companies Registration Office Ireland has extended the 2026 annual return filing deadline from 30 June to 30 September 2026 for companies with a June year-end. The extension applies automatically — no application required.

What to do: If your company has a June year-end and you were filing close to the deadline, you now have until 30 September. Update your calendar. Late filing penalties still apply after this date.
